The gare SNCF and gare routière (tel 02.98.44.46.73) are side-by-side in place du 19ème-RI at the bottom of avenue Clémenceau. A taxi into central Brest should cost around €12, or the airport has car rental desks for all the major chains. As well as the sailings to Ouessant, in summer from two to four boats per day make the 25-minute crossing from Brest's Port de Commerce to Le Fret on the Crozon peninsula (Société Azenor; JuneSept; tel 02.98.41.46.23, www.azenor.com; €14 return, under-17s €10). Sailings are met at the port in Le Fret by buses for Crozon (15min), MORGAT (30min) and Camaret (40min). Société Azenor and other operators also run excursions around the harbour and the Rade de Brest (1hr 30min), typically costing €13.50. The vast majority of Brest's hotels remain open throughout the year; only a few, however, bother to maintain their own restaurants. Several lie within easy walking distance of the stations, in the vicinity of the central place de la Liberté. The year-round hostel is on rue de Kerbriant, Port de Plaisance du Moulin-Blanc (tel 02.98.41.90.41, Brest[email protected]; €11.13 including breakfast), 3km east of the gares SNCF and routière in a wooded setting near Océanopolis, on bus route #7.
