Although the pedestrian streets west of the cathedral are unexpectedly short on places to eat, there are quite a few restaurants further east on the north side of the river, en route towards the gare SNCF. Rue Aristide-Briand here also contains a lively Celtic bar, the Ceili at no 4. Menus range from €22.87 up to €35, and change regularly; most offer very little choice, though all feature at least some meat. Closed Mon lunch & all Sun. La Couscousserie 1 bd de Kerguélen tel 02.98.95.46.50. Plush, enjoyable Middle Eastern restaurant by the river, serving couscous platters at €1220, and tagines at around €15, in two Arabian-Nights-themed rooms decked out with hookahs and the like. Le Jardin de l'Odet 39 bd de Kerguélen tel 02.98.95.76.76. Lovely Art-Deco restaurant, facing the river close to the cathedral and with a nice garden, serving top-value menus at €19, €26 and €31. Specialities include crab, and boned rabbit cooked in red wine. Closed Sun, plus Tues evening in winter. La Krampouzerie 9 rue du Sallé tel 02.98.95.13.08. One of the best of Quimper's many crêperies, with some outdoor seating on the place au Beurre. Most crêpes cost around €3, though you can get a wholewheat galette with scallops for €6.40, or with seaweed for €4.60. Closed Sun, & Mon in winter.
