| Carnac itself, divided between the original Carnac-Ville and the seaside resort of Carnac-Plage, is extremely popular and swarming with holiday-makers in July and August. For most of these, The alignments are, if anything, only a sideshow. But, as a holiday centre, Carnac has a special charm, especially in late spring and early autumn when it is less crowded – and cheaper. the town and seafront remain well wooded, and the tree-lined avenues and gardens are a delight, the climate being mild enough for evergreen oak and Mediterranean mimosa to grow alongside native stone pine and cypress. The town's five beaches extend for nearly 3km in total. The two most attractive beaches, usually counted as one of the five, are plages Men Dû and Beaumer, which lie to the east towards La Trinité beyond Pointe Churchill.
