Surprisingly, Menton is not blessed with streets of gorgeous Provençal restaurants. If you're not bothered about what you eat as long as it's cheap, the pedestrianized rue St-Michel is promising ground. For a proper restaurant meal in very elegant surroundings, there's Le Café Fiori in Hôtel Les Ambassadeurs, 2 rue du Louvre (tel 04.93.28.75.75; open summer evenings and winter daily lunch & dinner), with an evening bistro menu for €30. Menton also has two excellent Moroccan restaurants, both around the €20 mark: Le Darkoum, 23 rue St-Michel (tel 04.93.35.44.88), and La Mamounia, 51 porte de France, Garavan (tel 04.93.57.95.39).
