A small tourist office (Mon–Sat 9.30–12.30 & 2.30–6pm; May–Sept also Sun 10am–noon; tel 02.38.44.54.42) can be found on place Docteur-Hyvernaud. Two rather lovely hotels make the most of Beaugency's atmosphere of genteel charm: the Hôtel de l'Abbaye, 2 quai de l'Abbaye (tel 02.38.44.67.35, fax 02.38.44.87.92; €70–125) is set in a beautiful seventeenth-century abbey with painted ceilings and beds on raised platforms; while the small, delightful Hôtel de la Sologne, 6 place St-Firmin (tel 02.38.44.50.27, www.hoteldelasologne.com; €40–55; closed Dec 20–Jan 15) has some rooms with views of the Tour de César. The Hôtel des Vieux Fossés, 4 rue des Vieux-Fossés (tel 02.38.44.51.65, [email protected]; under €40) is central and inexpensive. There's also an HI hostel in the suburb of Vernon at 152 rte de Châteaudun, 2km north off the main Orléans–Blois road from the east side of town (tel 02.38.44.61.31; closed Jan & Feb), and a riverside campsite (tel 02.38.44.50.39; closed Sept–Easter), on the opposite bank from town.

Le Relais du Château, 8 rue du Pont (tel 02.38.44.55.10; closed Wed & Thurs lunch), is a decent, traditional restaurant with menus from €12.50–28; alternatively, Le P'tit Bateau, 54 rue du Pont (tel 02.38.44.56.38; closed Sun eve, and Mon & Tues lunch), has a pleasant terrace and slightly more elevated gastronomic ambitions, with menus from €15 to €34.
