As a result of Lyon's commercial pre-eminence, hotel rooms can be a problem to find, particularly on weekdays. If you don't book ahead, you could end up paying well over the odds for inferior accommodation. Hotels in Perrache (2e) and Bellecour (2e) fill up quickly, but you may be luckier around Terreaux (1er). If you're stuck, the tourist office offers a reservation service for €1.If you're on a real budget, stop by the CROUS offices, 59 rue de la Madeleine, 7e (tel 04.72.80.13.13; Mº Jean-Macé), or CRIJ offices, 9 quai des Celestins, 2e (tel 04.72.77.00.66; Mº Bellecour), both of whom may be able to fix you up in student lodgings or residences closer to the centre during vacation time.
