Restaurants in Paris are usually good at providing small portions or allowing children to share dishes. Dame Tartine, 2 rue Brisemiche, 4e (M° Rambuteau/Hôtel-de-Ville; daily noon–11.30pm), is family-friendly, relaxed and affordable in a great spot overlooking the Stravinsky Fountain, right beside the Pompidou Centre. Kids can share things from the menu like the delicious open toasted sandwiches (from €4.50), or there's a special kids' menu at €7.50. Several other eating places listed in our Eating & Drinking section offer a menu enfant, including Chez Jenny and Chez Imogène. One thing to remember when ordering a steak, hamburger, etc, is that the French will serve it rare unless you ask for it "bien cuit".Junk-food addicts no longer have any problems in Paris. McDonald's, Quick Hamburger and their clones are to be found all over the city. The French-style "fast foude" chain, Hippopotamus, is slightly healthier (branches throughout the centre of the city, including 1 bd des Capucines, 2e tel 01.47.42.75.70; M° Opéra; daily 11am–5am; €7.50 menu enfant).
