France for visitors

Camping
France > Paris > Hotels > Camping

The least expensive option is of course camping. With the exception of the one in the Bois de Boulogne, most of Paris's campsites are some way out of town, although the ones listed here are linked by public transport. Below is a selected list: for other possibilities, contact the tourist office or look online at www.camping-fr.com.

Camping du Bois de Boulogne Allée du Bord-de-l'Eau, 16e tel 01.45.24.30.00, www.abccamping.com/boulogne.htm. Much the most central campsite, with space for 436 tents, next to the River Seine in the Bois de Boulogne, and usually booked out in summer. The ground is pebbly, but the site is well equipped and has a useful information office. Prices start at €11 for a tent with two people; there are also bungalows for four to six people starting at €48 for four per night, which works out very inexpensively per person. M° Porte-Maillot then bus #244 to Moulins Camping (bus runs 6am–9pm). An extra shuttle bus runs between the campsite and M° Porte-Maillot April–Oct from 8.30am to 12.30am.

Camping la Colline Route de Lagny, Torcy tel 01.60.05.42.32, www.camping-de-la-colline.com. Pleasant wooded lakeside site to the east of the city near Disneyland (minibus shuttle to Disneyland costs €12 return), offering rental of anything from luxury tents to bungalows; erecting your own tent costs €15 per night for two people. RER line A4 to Torcy, then phone from the station and they will come and collect you or take bus #421 to stop Le Clos.

Camping du Parc-Étang St-Quentin-en-Yvelines Montigny-le-Bretonneux tel 01.30.58.56.20. Adequately equipped large campsite in a leisure complex southwest of Paris; costs €14.64 for two people and a tent. Open March–Oct. RER line C St-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
