The Musée National d'Art Moderne (daily except Tues 11am9pm; €5.49; audio-guide in English €4.57) is reached via the escalator. Your ticket is only valid for a single visit, so you can't, for example, pop out for a break in one of the centre's cafés and re-enter. The museum's collection offers a near-complete visual essay on the history of twentieth-century art, with the fifth floor covering the period 1905 to 1960, and the fourth 1960 to the present day. The fourth floor also displays a number of architectural models and furniture by contemporary designers. The collection is densely and efficiently organized, so, unlike many of the more unwieldy museums in Paris, half a day is probably enough for a comfortable, rewarding visit. It's worth noting that the collection is frequently rehung, so the account in this Guide may not be entirely accurate at the time of your visit.
