Jamin-Puech 61 rue d'Hauteville, 10^e www.jamin-puech.com. An exquisite range of beautifully crafted bags in brightly coloured leather, crepe silk and other luxury fabrics, plus fetching footwear to match. Handbags cost around €200. M° Poissonière. Tues–Sat 10.30am–7pm.

Tati Or 19 rue de la Paix, 1^er (M° Opéra) & 42 av Général-Leclerc, 14^e (M° Denfert-Rochereau). The well-known cheap clothing chain, Tati, also sells gold jewellery, priced well below other Parisian jewellers. Mon–Sat 10am–7pm.

Ursule Beaugeste 15 rue Oberkampf, 11^e. Handbag designer Ann Grand-Clement's delicious trademark crocheted handbags, some made on old looms, as well as beautifully engraved leather bags and cloth hats (and raffia bags in summer), all presented in a simple industrial-chic decor.
