Labeyrie 6 rue Montmartre, 1er. Specialist in products from the Landes region, pâtés in particular: Bayonne hams, goose and duck pâtés, conserves, etc. M° Châtelet-Les Halles. Tues–Sat 10.30am–2pm & 3–6pm.

Maison de la Truffe 19 pl de la Madeleine, 8e. Truffles, of course, including Piedmontese white truffles for around £1500 a pound, and more from the Dordogne and Landes. M° Madeleine. Mon 9am–8pm, Tues–Sat 9am–9pm.

Sacha Finkelsztajn 27 rue des Rosiers, 4e. Marvellous Jewish deli for takeaway snacks and goodies: gorgeous East European breads, apple strudel, gefilte fish, aubergine purée, tarama, blinis and borscht. M° St-Paul. Wed–Mon 10am–2pm & 3–7pm; closed Aug.
