Roussataio
The tourist office in Stes-Maries is located on avenue Van-Gogh, and will happily weigh you down with information detailing all the town's festivals and events (daily: Jan, Feb, Nov & Dec 9am–5pm; March & Oct 9am–6pm; April–June & Sept 9am–7pm; July & Aug 9am–8pm; tel 04.90.97.82.55, www.saintesmariesdelamer.com).

From April to October rooms in Stes-Maries should be booked in advance, and for the Romany festival, several months before. Prices go up considerably during the summer and at any time of the year are more expensive than at Arles. Outlying mas (farmhouses) renting out rooms tend to be quite expensive. Camping on the beach is not officially tolerated, but even at Stes-Maries people sleeping beneath the stars rarely get told to move on. The fifteen-kilometre seaside plage de Piemanson, also known as the plage d'Arles, south of Salin-de-Giraud, 10km east of Stes-Maries, is a favoured venue for camping sauvage in summer.
