Pleyben
As late as the 1920s, steamers would make their way across the Rade de Brest and down the Aulne River to Châteaulin, the first real town on the canal route. If you're walking the canal seriously, Pont-Coblant and Pleyben are just 10km further away on the map, but be warned that the meanders make it a several-hour hike. Pick your side of the water, too; there are no bridges between Châteaulin and Pont-Coblant.

Pages in section ‘Finistère stretch’: Châteaulin, Carhaix, Huelgoat, Le Faouët, St-Fiacre and Kernascléden.
