From Montségur, you can take a dramatic four-hour walk over the Montagne de la Frau (1950m) to Comus, just off the road between Ax-les-Thermes and Quillan in the Têt valley. At the hairpin turn on the highway to the south of the village, take a small road south along the Lasset River. After about 1km, the GR7B branches off to the east, crossing the stream and heading across a ridge to the north of the Montagne de la Frau. The trail eventually descends to the farm of Pelail (signposted as Liam), just above the Hers river. Turning south, the trail continues up the Hers valley, following the D5 from Bélesta into the deep sunless ravine known as the Gorges de la Frau. When the highway ends, the path continues up the deep gully thickly wooded with beech, ash, wild cherry and fir, climbing until it reaches an old tarmac road which crosses the river by a farm. Here, turn east again, and you'll come to Comus after about 3km.
